My story ♥

I am a Finnish language specialist, translator, copywriter, editor, and culture consultant. I have always loved stories, words, writing, reading and learning about different topics, languages and cultures. It shouldn’t be a surprise that Scrabble is my favorite game!

I love what I do – or should I say, I do what I love? I help others in getting their message out in the world, in the way they want it to sound. I enjoy coming up with creative ways to convey marketing messages. I always think about the reader, the viewer or the client and want to come up with copy that is effortless for the target audience to read, understand and relate to. Hopefully makes them smile (IF that is the goal)!

I have a BA in cultural management from University of Applied Sciences in Finland. I have worked for Finnish organizations and NGOs where I have been in charge of communications, media and marketing. I have combined my background with a good sense of language, creativity and communication skills to help companies with their translation, transcreation, copywriting, editing, proofreading, marketing and cultural consultancy needs.

My clients thank me for my great attention to detail, getting things done quickly, being co-operative, having lots of ideas and putting my heart and soul into everything I do. Having lived both in the US and Finland, I am happy to serve as a bridge between the two cultures, both close to my heart.

When we moved from the US to Finland after 13 years, I brought with me one of the things I loved most in Altadena, where we used to live: Buy Nothing Project. I started Finland’s first Buy Nothing group which has sprouted into more groups and we have now more than 10 active admins. What I love about Buy Nothing movement, is the community it builds while recycling, the slow pace, friendly communication and respecting your neighbors.

In my freetime, I also read books, listen to podcasts, play the New York Times word puzzles, kayak, swim in the sea (year round), forage, hike, watch movies, play board games with my kids, make soap and dance in my kitchen while cooking.
